Pi Quartet is a string quartet based in The Hague, Netherlands, consisting of Leah Plave (cello), Lidwine Dam (viola), Leslee Smucker (violin), and Hoei Lien The (violin). Half-American and half-Dutch, the quartet is dedicated to experimentation and exploration of the string quartet. The idea to form a quartet emerged from a shared interest in multidisciplinary performances and curiosity about music that lies outside the traditional string quartet canon. The name "Pi," referring to π, symbolizes infinite possibilities surrounding the performance space.
